"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Breaking The Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.
This week's pre-publication "can't-wait-to-read" selection is:
The Glimpse
by Claire Merle
by Claire Merle
Expected publication: June 7th 2012 by Faber & Faber (UK)

Once you've seen into the future, can you change your destiny?
In a near future, society is segregated according to whether people are genetically disposed to mental illness. 17-year-old Ana has been living the privileged life of a Pure due to an error in her DNA test. When the authorities find out, she faces banishment from her safe Community, a fate only thwarted by the fact that she has already been promised to Pure-boy Jasper Taurell.
Jasper is from a rich and influential family and despite Ana’s condition, wants to be with her. The authorities grant Ana a tentative reprieve. If she is joined to Jasper before her 18th birthday, she may stay in the Community until her illness manifests. But if Jasper changes his mind, she will be cast out among the Crazies. As Ana’s joining ceremony and her birthday loom closer, she dares to hope she will be saved from the horror of the City and live a ‘normal’ life. But then Jasper disappears.
Led to believe Jasper has been taken by a strange sect the authorities will not interfere with, Ana sneaks out of her well-guarded Community to find him herself. Her search takes her through the underbelly of society and into the pits of the human soul. And as she delves deeper into the mystery of Jasper's abduction she uncovers some devastating truths that destroy everything she has grown up to believe, but she also learns to love as she has never loved before.
WHY I'M WAITING?
With a futuristic setting and a mysterious plot along with it, this book is a must wait. The Glimpse has brought attention to me when looking for a Dystopian novel to read. I cannot say how excited I am for this book, just reading the synopsis makes me really excited for it. Mental Sickness? Pures and Crazies? Mysterious disappearance? This book is one to look forward to! The Glimpse comes out June 7th 2012!
League of Strays
by L. B. Schulman
Expected publication: October 1st 2012 by Amulet

When Charlotte Brody, a lonely 17-year-old student at a new school, receives an invitation to join The League of Strays, she's intrigued by the group's promise of "instant friendship." The League does provide companionship--and even a love interest--but Charlotte grows increasingly uncomfortable with its sinister mission to seek revenge against the bullies of Kennedy High. When escalating acts of vengeance threaten to hurl her down a path of remorse, Charlotte must choose between her new friends and the direction of a future she's never fully considered.
Now doesn't this book has a great cover? League of Strays has been featured here on it's recent cover reveal. My thoughts about the cover here. I've been eying on this book for quite sometime now. With the recent cover reveal I can say that this book has intrigued me and I cannot pass the chance to feature it again here on Waiting on Wednesday. If you are one of the few who are waiting for this book, you have to wait 6 more months before this book hit the shelves! League of Strays comes out October 1st. Meanwhile lets just feast on the beautiful cover...
Stormdancer

Expected publication:
September 1st 2012

A DYING LAND
The Shima Imperium verges on the brink of environmental collapse; decimated by clockwork industrialization and the machine-worshipers of the Lotus Guild. The skies are red as blood, land choked with toxic pollution, wildlife ravaged by mass extinctions.
AN IMPOSSIBLE QUEST
The hunters of Shima's imperial court are charged by their Shōgun to capture a thunder tiger – a legendary beast, half-eagle, half-tiger. But any fool knows thunder tigers have been extinct for more than a century, and the price of failing the Shōgun is death.
A SIXTEEN YEAR OLD GIRL
Yukiko is a child of the Fox clan, possessed of a hidden gift that would see her executed by the Lotus Guild. Accompanying her father on the Shōgun’s hunt, she finds herself stranded: a young woman alone in Shima’s last wilderness, with only a furious, crippled thunder tiger for company. Even though she can hear his thoughts, even though she saved his life, all she knows for certain is he’d rather see her dead than help her.
But together, the pair will form an indomitable friendship, and rise to challenge the might of an empire.
I found out about Stormdancer on the recent Dystopian Domination 2 hosted by Kai of Amaterasu Reads and Precious of Fragments of Life. According to Jay "People call STORMDANCER a Japanese Steampunk novel, but it’d be less like lying to say that Stormdancer is Japanese-inspired." Read the whole Guest Post here. After reading that Guest Post I just need to read this book! I'm an Asian so I guess I can relate to this. Japan has been one of the countries I want to go someday and I think this book makes me one step closer to it. Fans of this book you have to wait 5 months more before this awesome book hit the shelves! Stormdancer comes out September 1st.
