"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Breaking The Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.
This week's pre-publication "can't-wait-to-read" selection is:
I have three books this week and they are equally good not that I've read them but I'm totally waiting for them. Taken sounds really good and with the blurb "Once you're over the Wall, there's no going back." sounds really good right? This one comes out April next year! So there's a long wait for it. Next one is Insignia and I just can't wait till it's July 10th already! been totally waiting for this now that I heard that there's going to be a movie for this book. Another book to look forward and is worth pre-ordering! The Syndicate, lets just say I'm really biased for covers and this one is a total catch! I love the cover and I've been hearing good things about it. It sounds really good too, don't you think? Must read for me!

There are no men in Claysoot. There are boys—but every one of them vanishes at midnight on his eighteenth birthday. The ground shakes, the wind howls, a blinding light descends...and he’s gone.
They call it the Heist.
Gray Weathersby’s eighteenth birthday is mere months away, and he’s prepared to meet his fate–until he finds a strange note from his mother and starts to question everything he’s been raised to accept: the Council leaders and their obvious secrets. The Heist itself. And what lies beyond the Wall that surrounds Claysoot–a structure that no one can cross and survive.
Climbing the Wall is suicide, but what comes after the Heist could be worse. Should he sit back and wait to be taken–or risk everything on the hope of the other side?

Expected publication: July 10th 2012 by Katherine Tegen Books
More than anything, Tom Raines wants to be important, though his shadowy life is anything but that. For years, Tom’s drifted from casino to casino with his unlucky gambler of a dad, gaming for their survival. Keeping a roof over their heads depends on a careful combination of skill, luck, con artistry, and staying invisible.
Then one day, Tom stops being invisible. Someone’s been watching his virtual-reality prowess, and he’s offered the incredible—a place at the Pentagonal Spire, an elite military academy. There, Tom’s instincts for combat will be put to the test, and if he passes, he’ll become a member of the Intrasolar Forces, helping to lead his country to victory in World War Three. Finally, he’ll be someone important: a superhuman war machine with the tech skills that every virtual-reality warrior dreams of. Life at the Spire holds everything that Tom’s always wanted—friends, the possibility of a girlfriend, and a life where his every action matters—but what will it cost him?
Gripping and provocative, S. J. Kincaid’s futuristic thrill ride of a debut crackles with memorable characters, tremendous wit, and a vision of the future that asks startling, timely questions about the melding of humanity and technology.

I'm REALLY liking the picks this week, especially Taken and Insignia!
ReplyDeleteI hope Insignia will be the intelligent, strategical, technological thriller it sounds like in the synopsis!
And Taken...I would love no know how the community is reproducing without men (though I'm sure you don't need to be 18 to be a father) and why they can't lock the boys up and have 24-hour surveillance on their birthday...
Lilian @ A Novel Toybox
I'm definitely excited for The Syndicate! I'm drooling over that cover! I haven't head of Taken or Insignia, but I love the summaries of both of them. They sound like really good reads! Excellent picks!!
