[Cover Reveal] Crown of Ember by Rae Carson

Official Blurb

Elisa is the hero of her country. She led her people to victory against a terrifying enemy, and now she is their queen. But she is only seventeen years old. Her rivals may have simply retreated, choosing stealth over battle. And no one within her court trusts her-except Hector, the commander of the royal guard, and her companions. As the country begins to crumble beneath her and her enemies emerge from the shadows, Elisa will take another journey. With a one-eyed warrior, a loyal friend, an enemy defector, and the man she is falling in love with, Elisa crosses the ocean in search of the perilous, uncharted, and mythical source of the Godstone’s power. That is not all she finds.

A breathtaking, romantic, and dangerous second volume in the Fire and Thorns trilogy.

Now doesn't this cover looks amazing?! I cannot wait to read it! I still haven't got a chance to read The Girl of Fire and Thorns, the first book of the series but Geianne already read it and she has nothing but good things to say about the book, see her Review of Girl of Fire and Thorns. There is still no publication date yet for this book but it will be publish this year by Greenwillow Books. And according to Rae's blog:

"HNI#3: I heard a rumor that ARCs for book 2, The Crown of Embers, are winging their way out into the world very, very soon."

ARCs! So watch out for it! What do you think of the cover? Are you excited on reading the sequel? What are you most looking forward on reading on the sequel? Tell me your thoughts!

[Orangeberry Book Tours] In Leah's Wake by Terri Giuliano Long

In Leah's Wake by Terri Giuliano Long
The Tylers have a perfect life—beautiful home, established careers, two sweet and talented daughters. Their eldest daughter, Leah, an exceptional soccer player, is on track for a prestigious scholarship. Their youngest, Justine—more responsible than seems possible for her 12 years—just wants her sister’s approval. With Leah nearing the end of high school and Justine a seemingly “together” kid, the parents are set to enjoy a peaceful life…until everything goes wrong. Can this family survive in Leah’s wake?

Margot Livesey, award-winning author of Banishing Verona, calls In Leah's Wake "a beautifully written and absorbing novel."

When happens when love just isn't enough?

Recipient of the CTRR Award for excellence
2011 Book Bundlz Book Pick
Book Bundlz 2011 Favorites, First Place
Protecting their children comes naturally for Zoe and Will Tyler -
until their daughter Leah decides to actively destroy her own future.

Leah grew up in a privileged upper-middle class world. Her parents spared no expense for her happiness; she had all-but secured an Ivy League scholarship and a future as a star athlete. Then she met Todd.

Leah’s parents watch helplessly as their daughter falls into a world of drugs, sex, and wild parties. While Will attempts to control his daughter’s every move to prevent her from falling deeper into this dangerous new life, Zoe prefers to give Leah slack in the hope that she may learn from her mistakes. Their divided approach drives their daughter out of their home and a wedge into their marriage.

Twelve-year-old Justine observes Leah’s rebellion from the shadows of their fragmented family. She desperately seeks her big sister’s approval and will do whatever it takes to obtain it. Meanwhile she is left to question whether her parents love her and whether God even knows she exists.

What happens when love just isn’t enough? Who will pay the consequences of Leah’s vagrant lifestyle? Can this broken family survive the destruction left in Leah’s wake?

[Blog Tour] The Guardian's Wildchild by Feather Stone

Today I bring you an Excerpt from The Guardian's Wildchild by Feather Stone.
The Dance

He closed the suitcase and placed it on the floor. He had to keep focused on the fact that he was leaving her, would probably never see her again. There was no way to predict how the struggle with the admiral would play out, but he was certain Sidney would never trust him again after this. He had to remain objective.

“I have one request,” Sidney teased.

“Name it.”

“Take me sailing some day, Sam, if we get out of this.”

The request touched Sam. He recalled the vision in which he and Sidney were trying to find a safe place to anchor their sailing ship near the island’s shore beyond the reef.

“Any place special?” he asked.

Sidney gazed into his eyes. “No. Just some place where there’s the sea, the ship, and you and me. No one else, no rule book.”

“Sidney … ”

Sidney walked close to put her arms around his waist and rested her head against his shoulder. “If you had a choice, Sam, where would you like to be right now?”

What would it hurt? he wondered. He wanted her to feel safe. He owed her that much and more. But he couldn’t surrender his heart. Not now when his sons’ future depended upon him being clear headed. He held her tightly to his chest and whispered in her ear.

“I’d like to take you dancing — a nice slow waltz around the dance floor.”

He lifted her face to his and kissed her passionately. In a single breath, all the barriers, all the rules, all the fears slipped aside. Sam unfastened the buttons of her shirt and eased the garment over her shoulders. It slipped to the floor around her ankles. Soon his uniform fell to the floor and became lost in the folds of her clothes as Sam and Sidney began their intimate dance.

ABOUT THE BOOK

Sidney Davenport is known as Wildchild to her Guardian mentor, Greystone. She rebels against rules. Wildchild is gifted in the paranormal, but carefully conceals her powers from the world. Even in the crises that threaten her life, she refuses to use her powers of telepathy, telekinesis, space/time travel. If her enemies discovered the truth of who she is, her Guardian people would be destroyed. She calls upon her spirit guides, Seamus and Celeste, to guide her through a mine field of the insane - Madame and Captain Butchart.

Sidney leaves her home on Hawk's Island to help the underground stop two people who are about to cause worldwide madness. Unskilled in esponage, she is arrested and sentanced to death. But, God help Sidney, she can't deny her attraction to the man who has orders to perform her execution - the tall, dark eyed Captain Waterhouse. He's meticulous, disciplined and lives by the strict rules expected of an officer of the American navy.

Captain Waterhouse is about to scrap his higher morals to bust out of his hell. When a female prisoner is delivered to his ship, he has no idea she is capable of turning his disciplined life into a storm of unimaginable experiences. His prisoner's enemies, he discovers, are also the ones who hold his life in the palm of their hands.

Through stunning imagery, an intricate and adventurous plot, and a strong cast of characters, Feather Stone gives readers a fast paced story woven with murder and magic.

[Cover Reveal] Inbetween by Tara A. Fuller

Expected publication: August 2012 by Entangled Publishing

Official Blurb
Since the car crash that took her father’s life three years ago, Emma’s life has been a freaky—and unending—lesson in caution. Surviving “accidents” has taken priority over being a normal seventeen-year-old, so Emma spends her days taking pictures of life instead of living it. Falling in love with a boy was never part of the plan. Falling for a reaper who makes her chest ache and her head spin? Not an option.

It’s not easy being dead, especially for a reaper in love with a girl fate has put on his list not once, but twice. Finn’s fellow reapers give him hell about spending time with Emma, but Finn couldn’t let her die before, and he’s not about to let her die now. He will protect the girl he loves from the evil he accidentally unleashed, even if it means sacrificing the only thing he has left...his soul.

In My Mailbox #7: Classics Edition

In My Mailbox is a weekly meme hosted by Kristi at The Story Siren. This meme allows bloggers to showcase the books they've received, bought or borrowed from the library.

It's been a two months since my last IMM post, haven't got any books to show off since I haven't got any since then. But I have to tell you about the Classics I got lately. I've been lurking on Goodreads and I found the ebooks section on the Explore tab. So here's what I got this week :D

Kindle eBooks:
A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens
The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas
Les Miserables by Victor Hugo
Dracula by Bram Stoker
The Interpretation of Dreams by Sigmund Freud
Uncle Tom's Cabin by Harriet Beecher Stowe
The Beautiful and The Damned by F. Scott Fitzgerald
Daimon by Jennifer Armentrout

These books are free for download on the ebooks section of Goodreads and not illegally downloaded on the net. If you want to get some free reads I think the best way is to visit the ebooks section of Goodreads. I also found the prequel of Harry Potter and Twilight there and some other titles. So if you have a Kindle or an eReader I think you should definitely go there. I also saw a few YA books that you can download their excerpt like Clockwork Prince and Nightshade.

In the future, only one rule will matter: Don’t. Ever. Peek.

Seventeen-year-old Ari Alexander just broke that rule and saw the last person she expected hovering above her bed--arrogant Jackson Locke, the most popular boy in her school. She expects instant execution or some kind of freak alien punishment, but instead, Jackson issues a challenge: help him, or everyone on Earth will die.

Ari knows she should report him, but everything about Jackson makes her question what she’s been taught about his kind. And against her instincts, she’s falling for him. But Ari isn’t just any girl, and Jackson wants more than her attention. She’s a military legacy who’s been trained by her father and exposed to war strategies and societal information no one can know--especially an alien spy, like Jackson. REVIEW

Perkins delivers yet an inspiring and heartfelt book. Lola and The Boy Next Door... is an outstanding novel. If you love Anna and The French Kiss you will devour on this one!

Lola and The Boy Next Door is a story of a young girl named Lola Nolan; she’s a budding designer and loves to dress and mismatch clothes. Her dream is to attend the winter formal dressed as Marie Antoinette. She lives a life with full of colors like her dresses, fun, sparkly and outrageous. She has a rocker boyfriend and an ultimate best friend that has her back, she’s living the life but everything seemed to be perfect until the Bell twins returns to the neighborhood. Cricket Bell is a talented inventor but he gets outshines by her twin, after returning back to their home, will it bring back his feelings for Lola? Will Lola fall back for Cricket? But how about Max?

While reading this book I just have the feeling that I’m floating in the air, Perkins delivers a book that gives you jitters with every line. Just like her previous book Anna and The French Kiss this book is packed with a girl who you can definitely relate to and a handsome boy that will sweep you off your feet! The story is just very authentic that it seemed that it happened in real life. It was conveyed with a voice that I think everybody can divulge to. A story that is so adorable and cute that it will make you smile countless of times. Lola and The Boy Next Door is a story that will make everyone believe in true love, that no matter how long and hard the road is true love will always prevail.

Lola Nolan is what I can say one of the most exquisite, alluring characters that I’ve ever read. Lola has captured the voice of a girl that can represent every girl. Lola is a fun character to read, just like every normal teenage girl I think everybody can relate to her ups and downs. She grows up with beautiful parents, she’s living her life with her boyfriend and her best friend what more can anyone ask for? I really like Lola’s personality she’s fun to be with that I think I’ll be her instant friend when we meet. One think I just notice is that she over thinks which is really fine for me but when you overly think sometimes it gets overboard.

Cricket is just… ahhh I can’t explain it! He is by far one of the sweetest, romantic, euphoric characters that I’ve read. Cricket Bell has got to be the Perfect Gentlemen for me. His character is just admirable that I swear you’ll be head over heels with him. He’s also a budding inventor which I think is very unique for a character. Lola described him as a very humble guy, well mannered and definitely very tall! I think everyone would fall for a man like him. Cricket Bell has got to be the man of every girls dream.

Cover love for Lola and The Boy Next Door! I just love how it shows Lola having a wig and a great dress. I really love the cover model for this book or maybe it was how they were dressed? I love how they are sitting in a window; I think it shows how the window is connected with the story. But all in all I think the cover was amazing! I can never pick another cover for this book.

Overall the book was an amazing read. Lola and The Boy Next Door is a book that can remind you of your younger years. Perkins has got to be one author that can write a story with depth. This book tackles LGBT issues and I think Perkins did an awesome job with it. She wrote a story that everybody can relate to and for that I can say that she is one of my favorite authors of all time. Did I also say that this book has Anna and Etienne? Oh yes! If you’ve read Anna and The French Kiss, I think you’ll love Etienne more on this book! I recommend this book for people who are looking for a good read. I think the premise of this book is just a wonderful experience for everyone, real, engaging, fun and definitely adorable. Remembering the story of Lola and Cricket gives a smile to my face. Don’t dare miss this book out! A must read!

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

I'm Stephanie Perkins, and I write novels for teens (and for adults who aren't afraid to admit that teen books are awesome). I was born in South Carolina, raised in Arizona, attended universities in San Francisco and Atlanta, and now I live in the mountains of North Carolina amidst the waterfalls and wild blueberries.
My best friend is also my husband, Jarrod, and he's the most wonderful person I know. Every room of our house is painted a different color of the rainbow. We share it with two elderly pups and a pesky cat named Mr. Tumnus.
I spend my weekdays reading and writing. You can find me at my desk, drowning in tea cups and coffee mugs, staring blankly at my laptop. On weekends, you'll find me curled into the seats of movie theaters, hoping for the actors to kiss. I believe all novels and films should have more kissing.
It's difficult to pinpoint the moment I decided to become a writer. I've always loved telling stories, but it took years before I tried to make it my living. Even after I received a degree in creative writing, I worked hard to convince myself to do something else. To get a REAL job. I'm thankful the writing gods persisted. Still, I've always worked with books—first as a bookseller, then as a librarian, and now as a novelist. I love the way they smell, the weight of their pages in my hands, the Once Upon a Time of escape. I cannot imagine a life without literature.

REVIEW

No, this book isn’t about ‘a girl walking shyly in the school hallways and accidentally bumps a cocky jock named Eros, who happens to be the guy she loved eons ago and now history is again repeating itselfyaddayaddayadda…’Because this one is the literal the retelling of how the cutie lil guy with fluffy wings who shoots human beings with love arrows took his own shot of medicine.

Except that he isn’t really wearing diapers. He’s not a cheery 2yr-old baby with quivers either. He’s a hot piece, son of Goddess of Love who happens to have a temper like he doesn’t have aheart at all... Until his bossy mother tries to play ‘cupid’ between him and a girl with “a beauty that could possibly be compared to Helen of Troy and could launch a thousand warships allover”, Psyche. Now you think it’s all that easy since they would realize they would look pretty together and they will live happily ever after. Nope. Not really, if you have to face the wrath of the gods, crazy prophecies, and Aphrodite herself (yep, she could really confuse people with her role).

What I like about this book is that it’s simply crazy. Jessica Harrell did a really mind-boggling job of having the truth about the myth mixed with her own style without losing the essence of the original story. There are situations that the readers would find hilarious and there are some scenes that could just make you go mad, as if the purpose of the author is to make us experience a roller coaster kind of read--Greek mythology style. She would make you grow a sense of fondness to the mythological characters in a way you would never think of!
